Little Bit of Nothing.

It’s… 1:40pm… I’ve been up for a little over an hour now. And I’m boooooored. I made Sean get up at 1pm, but he just came out here (in the living room) and went back to sleep on the futon. :|

I’m really restless, I really want to get out of the house and go do something. We’re supposed to go shopping for groceries with Em & Warlock, head up to Target to see if my camera is on sale there, pick up our laundry sometime after 5pm (yes, we sent it out. I had nothing to do with it, Sean decided we needed to send it out. Sigh. and just… be outside, damnit!

But he won’t wake up… rawr.

Last night we went to Emily’s dance performance, which was good but a little too ‘modern’ for our tastes. Too much flopping around, not enough traditional dancing. Afterwards we went to the Argonaut for dinner… I had a ‘California gardenburger’ which turned out to be kind of weird because I wasn’t expecting the gardenburger to be so… garden-y. Like… peas and lima beans were falling out of it. o__O I figured it’d be like one of those veggie burgers, where it at least kind of looks like real meat. Oh well. I got it on a whim, what can I expect? I just wanted it because it came with avocadoes on top. :P
My favorite part of dinner: FRIES. For those of you who have never been to the glorious phenomenon known as an east-coast diner… you haven’t lived! I LOVE DINER FRIES. We ordered a whole plate of them just for the two of us (Em & Warlock had their own) and we ate every last fry. SO GOOD.
Damn. Now I’m cravin’ me some fries.

Afterwards we came back to the apt. building and watched Scary Movie 4. It was stupid. I don’t recommend it. Of course, it probably sucked more because none of us got the references… I mean, we understood what movies they were coming from, but we hadn’t actually seen the movies, so… Plus, the plot just wasn’t very good. But what can I expect? It’s a spoof, for Bob’s sake.

I wanna go ooooout! *whines and flops around*

And I want some diner fries. *whines and flops around more*

Best Birthday Yet :)

Well, it started out slow, but today ended up being the best birthday I’ve had to date… And I know they’ll only get better from here. :)
I had to work at 9am, so that wasn’t too much fun, but I did get to crank out a nifty page for a faculty member in less than an hour — w00t, speedy Jess! And work was pretty relaxed today, so all in all it was pretty fun.
Sean showed up after my Italian speaking conference with lunch — Quizno’s — and a dozen gorgeous roses — the kind that are white/light pink on the outside and deep red on the inside. SO GORGEOUS.
I didn’t want to go to Buddhism, but he convinced me to just get it over with, so I went… It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible, either. Kind of like purgatory. :P
Theeeeen, finally… Sean brought me home, I took a shower, we got dressed up all pretty and we went to Django.

OH. MY. FUCK.

Django was seriously the most amazing place we’d ever been together. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable… and the dessert was seriously to die for.
To start out, with our pre-appetizers, we had a nice glass of champagne… Teehee, I completely passed as over the legal age! Then we had a nice lobster salad… It was good, but Sean doesn’t like salady stuff and there wasn’t a whole lot of lobster in it, so I ended up eating most of it!
For entrées, Sean had the ribeye and I had the lamb shank… Both of them were so unbelieveably delicious… Our plates were cleaned in no time. And we were surprised at the portions! We expected tiny little “tasting” entrees like most fancy places have, but these were definitely pretty good sized! And did I mention how delicious they were?! My lamb was seriously falling off the bone, it was so melt-in-your-mouth tender. *dies just thinking about it again*
Then came the most amazing part — dessert. First, I ordered a cup of the aptly named Celebration tea, which was amazing — I’m definitely going to start ordering from that company (Mighty Leaf Tea), and we decided to split a seasonal dessert that Django was offering — eight ’spiked’ sorbets to sample. Each came in a doubleshot glass with the sorbet and a bit of alcohol as follows and as we could remember them:

  • Lychee Sorbet with Sake – my favorite… sooooo amazing
  • Mandarin Orange Sorbet with Cointreau – Sean’s favorite
  • Mojito – Lime & Mint with Rum
  • Cherry Sorbet with Amaretto liquer
  • Frozen Espresso with Kahlua
  • Piña Colada – Pineapple/coconut Sorbet with Coconut Rum
  • ‘Old Fashioned’ – Blood Orange Sorbet with Maker’s Mark Whiskey
  • Strawberry & Ginger Sorbet with Strawberry Vodka — the only one we didn’t finish, blech!

*dies from happiness poisoning*

It was so amazing. I love Django. I love SEAN.
Seriously… I love him so incredibly much. No other friend or boyfriend has ever even tried to show me as good of a time on my birthday as he did.
I’m going to go tackle him into a bear hug. <3
