Canta Bene.
Soooo… I haven’t really brought this up here, but it’s probably a very good time to do it.
Our plans for China are becoming less and less definite… but that’s not a bad thing!
Recently, Sean (who is a tenor) performed with some of his co-choir members at Carnegie Hall with the Canticum Novum singers of New York. It went so well that the choir director actually invited Sean to join their group, and of course he accepted.
Since then, he has performed with the Canticum Novum singers at the Radio City Music Hall and for the UN General Assembly, with Ennio Morricone as the guest conductor as they performed several of his works.
He has also been introduced to a musical agent type woman… with whom he just auditioned to be taken on as a professional singer. He just got home from the audition.
He’s not entirely sure how it went, but we’ll see. I have very good faith in the fact that he’s an incredible singer, and I think he can get this.
And how does this affect our plans for China?
Well… if Sean gets this deal, it is very possible (and probable) that we will be staying in New York for at least two to three more years, that we will be buying an apartment (or at least Sean and his mom will… my credit sucks!) in the area and that Sean will continue as full-time staff at Sarah Lawrence. And I will get a part-time job working for my current boss (Emily) while taking classes at a cheaper college to finish out my Sarah Lawrence degree. And I’ll get a chinchilla, but that’s another story.
The other, less feasible option is to move to Los Angeles… It’s so expensive where we’d want to live, though, that I don’t think that would be a good option… but it’s on the plate, nonetheless.
I’ll keep updating as I know the situation… but it could be a few weeks before we know anything. :P
