The Missing Piece
We finally got our sofa!
It looks almost like this… The upholstery and pillows are a little lighter:
When we first moved in to our new apartment, we donated our futon, which had been our ’sofa’ at the old apartment, to the office/guest room, and decided to get a new sofa. So we went around to various places, and kept coming back to this same style, which is very similar to what Sean’s mom bought a while ago for her library/TV room. It’s very sleek/chic/modern. So when we were finally able to find a really good deal on it, we ordered it! :)
The only problem was that they needed to order it, and it would take 4-6 weeks to come in — this was back in June. So they were estimating around July 6 for its arrival.
July 6 came and went, though, and it hadn’t arrived at their warehouse, so they rescheduled it for July 16. July 16 came, and some kind of problem with the delivery company meant it wasn’t happening again. (The delivery company was actually really snide and even a little racist toward Sean when he called… but that’s a story for a different day…) So they rescheduled it again for today, July 23, at 10:30am. At 9:30am or so, they call my cell phone and say they’re having a problem with their truck, and have to reschedule the delivery to 1:30pm. No big deal… They finally came (actually around 1:45, but oh well… traffic, etc.) and brought the first piece up no problem… but the chaise end was too big for the elevator… So these two guys had to lug our big chaise section up eight floors through the stairs… Poor guys! We were a little skeeved when they told us they had to charge $5 per flight of stairs (and two flights per floor), but they did it quickly and were really nice about it, so no big deal.
Soo… it’s taken over a month to finally get it, but it’s here! I’m sitting in it, snuggled up in the corner. I love it! It’s basically the last piece to come in to our apartment (all we are waiting on right now is a lamp that we ordered at the same time). Sean loves it, the kitties love laying on the big chaise part, I love it… It’s great!
Finally, after moving in May 15, we have a sofa, we have a living room, we have a home!!!
