Lianhua

Lianhua.nu was registered on 26 May 2006, and despite the hefty sum I have to pay for it every two years, it’s not going anywhere for a while.

Lianhua is 150% ad free. All reviews and links are genuine; no one pays me to do anything to or on this website at all. While there was a time when I considered “selling out,” I decided my words, thoughts and memories are worth more to me than the money that would tarnish them.

Behind the Name

In Mandarin Chinese, ‘lian hua’ means ‘lotus flower.’ Besides being my favorite flowers, lotus flowers have a very special and symbolic meaning to me, as a Buddhist and as a student of Asian religions as a whole. To many Buddhists and Hindus, lotus flowers represent enlightenment and the path one takes to achieve it. Lotuses take root in dark, murky waters at the bottom of lakes and ponds, where very little else can survive. They rise up, living and thriving within and perhaps even in spite of their gloomy, muddy environment, gradually growing up and up through clearer and clearer water until finally they reach the top and escape the water, producing breathtaking flowers. They strive through the suffering and darkness and finally emerge, more beautiful than anyone could have imagined when they first took root in the mud at the bottom of the water.

Lianhua.nu is, first and foremost, my personal blog. It is uncut, unedited, unaltered, uncensored. Real and raw. That being said, it’s pretty harmless most of the time. Sometimes I get a little opinionated, but let’s face it, I’m a Buddhist, I wouldn’t really hurt a fly. Mosquitos, on the other hand, are a different story.

If for some reason something should happen to offend you, or if you should happen to disagree with anything that is said, how it is said or the person who says it, you can feel free to leave a comment or send me an email… but be aware that, since this is my site, I have the final word on how the situation is ultimately resolved.
If you don’t like me, my site or what I say at all, however, it’s probably best to just leave. I will not respond to hatred.
